Brown Butter Tart

This is the perfect pie for with Sunday afternoon coffee.
It's sweet but not too sweet, having that rich, nutty, butter flavour.

Browned Butter Tart
Adapted from Better Homes and Gardens

1 10" unbaked tart shell
3 eggs
1 1/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup butter
Fresh berries optional
Whipped Cream optional

Preheat oven to 350*.
For the filling, mix together the sugar and flour;
add eggs and vanilla whisk until smooth; set aside.
In a medium heavy saucepan cook butter over medium heat until the butter turns the colour of light brown sugar.
Remove from heat. Slowly add browned butter to the egg mixture, stirring until combined, Pour filling into tart shell.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is crisp and golden. Cool.
Add fresh berries and cream to serve if you like.
